State registration of sites in Belarus: now also for money

As already mentioned on Habré, before July 1, 2010, absolutely all sites that are located in the Belarusian segment of the Internet should go through state registration. The work of an unregistered online resource will be considered illegal from July 1.

Bainet, who had barely recovered from such news, decided to finish it off by entering a payment for registering websites. Registration cost is 16,800 BYR. ($ 5.6).

First of all, the law will deal a serious blow to the Belarusian hosting providers, since it is they who will have to pay the state for registration of Internet resources at one time, and only then include these costs in service contracts, thus compensating for their losses at the expense of users.

With average prices for hosting in Belarus from $ 6 per month, it turns out that for the registration of Internet resources, the hosting provider must pay an amount almost equal to its monthly revenue. Imagine for a moment what would happen to your business or your family if you deprive them of their monthly income.

In the end, of course, all Belarusian websites will suffer, because it is obvious that hosting providers will drive up prices, trying to cover unplanned losses.

If you think a little bigger - you can call everything that happens a big step backwards for the whole of Bynet. After all, a significant part of the site holders, I am sure, will abandon the already not the cheapest Belarusian hosting and will switch to foreign - cheaper and often better quality.

I hope that common sense will still triumph, and the fee "for air" will still be canceled before the start of mass state registration of sites.
