Augmented Reality in St. Petersburg

According to Euronews, the plot “ Scientists of St. Petersburg presented a development that will help older people ”, I was already glad that we went the right way and started using augmented reality for the benefit of humanity and especially those who really need it - the disabled, the elderly and other people with disabilities. A short story for two minutes ... showed an elderly, almost blind pensioner, who allegedly tested a new super device, the know-how of Russian scientists, who "shows" where a particular object is located in the city.

In the story they said that there is one problem - money, that this device will cost at least 200 euros. Can you imagine - DOUBLE EURO ! And this is not counting the means that will go to the devices that will be placed in the identification objects themselves (meaning RFID tags). Sorry, my dear scientists and their cunning leaders, but 200 euros is worth a full-fledged GPS-navigator, and not what you are trying to slip as the next state panacea with water filters. The price of this device can not be higher than an mp3-player, cell phone, but it cannot be higher than 1000 rubles at all. There is nothing there that can be expensive. You will not believe, but this technology has long been used in our world, in the metro, in any store (books, clothes, alcohol, etc.), in offices, in passports (yes, everyone has RFID in passports tag), in museums - everywhere there are RFID tags by which we can identify the object.
The figure clearly shows the operation of such a device:

This is of course a simplified version, but it helps to understand the principle of operation. For details on RFID, see the wikipedia links in my post.
