Tripod + different trifles = convenient laptop holder in the car

Enno time ago I purchased a ASUS Eee series netbook.
Because of its size and battery life, it has become my constant companion.
As usual, the task appeared to make the head turn on. It was necessary to install a "friend" in the car. The first version of the mount was assembled in haste, or rather twisted from a single piece of steel wire, and this stand was attached to the steering wheel (sorry the photo has not survived). But then there naturally arose the problem of using a laptop while driving.

A little googling, a number of special mounts for a laptop in the car were found, but their price did not inspire: from 3.5 thousand rubles. There was no desire to part with the "blood", I decided to activate a bunch of "brain" + "hands". And now, making another “foray” in Auchan for groceries, an inexpensive tripod for a camera (300r.) Caught my eye:
He gave impetus to the development of thought.
Picked up in the garage was found a piece of metal sheet and a stand was cut from the size of the netbook.
It remains only to fasten two retaining hooks made of 4 copper wires in insulation to the bottom so as not to scratch the beech, close the sharp edges with the insulating sheath from the wire set on the hot glue and fix it all on the tripod itself.
It turned out an interesting design, which can already be used as a convenient stand for a netbook (when there is no space on the table, well, or the table itself, or you are outside the house).
It remains only to figure out how to fix this "miracle" in the car.
Needed:
- A piece of channel (something like this):
- 2 mm plate
- A piece of plastic plate.
We put together something like the following and fasten it to the passenger seat mounting bolt.
In the future, I secured the channel from the auto inverter 12 - 220 volts to the channel.
The next step: in the plate, drill three holes along the diameter of the plastic tips of the legs of the tripod:
Bottom we fix a plastic plate with holes of this type.
At the tips of the legs of the tripod make grooves.
As a result, by inserting a tripod into the holes of the upper plate and turning the lower plate, we fix the tripod “tightly”.
Then, in order to exclude the swing of the tripod (and this is not excluded), it had to be fixed to the panel from above:
As a result, the tripod is installed and removed in a couple of seconds. And holding like a glove.
And this is what a salon looks like without a tripod. As you can see, the attachments are not noticeable and do not bother anyone.
And most importantly, the installed mount:
- takes up little space
- rotates in any plane,
- does not interfere with the passenger,
- Does not close the passenger airbag
and does not even interfere with the opening of the glove box.
In general, not counting the hardware found in the garage - the mount for the laptop cost only at the cost of a tripod (about 300 p.)
Then, a little poshamaniv over the radio, it became possible to connect the laptop to the acoustics in the car and watching movies and music has become more enjoyable.
Bonus:
For navigation, I use the iGo 8 PC program in conjunction with the HTC P3300 (shared by GPS). I use the Internet from Yota, which covers the whole of Moscow, which means I am always on-line and can, for example, be standing in traffic or even rushing around the Moscow Ring Road talking to friends via Skype. It remains only to install a touch screen panel on the laptop for more convenient control.
By the way, this model of the Asus beech was chosen for the lack of a regular hard disk, instead of which Flash HDD was installed, which is absolutely calm about the shaking and vibrations of the car.
