Today marks the launch of localized
Creative Commons licenses in
Vietnam , the
53rd world jurisdiction , in which the Creative Commons licensing kit is adapted to national legislation.
The Vietnam Education Foundation, together with
D & N International and Creative Commons, oversaw the localization of licenses in consultation with the Vietnamese public and key stakeholders in this jurisdiction.

The launch will take place at the Creative Commons seminar on May 7 at 1:00 pm at
Open CourseWare Consortium's fifth annual conference (OCWC) at the Melia Hotel. In order to explore the possibilities of large-scale education improvement around the world with the help of Open CourseWare, teachers, administrators, politicians and other interested participants will take part in the 3-day OCWC event.
Many Open CourseWare and Open Educational Resources (OER) use Creative Commons licenses to grant copyright permission for easy access, processing and research of information.
“At a time when Vietnam is making significant efforts to improve education and strengthen its creative industry, I see that launching Creative Commons provides a solid foundation on which to create a Vietnamese education system and creative industry in the digital age,” said Dr. Lynn McNamara Executive Director of the Vietnam Education Foundation. “We appreciate the support from OCWC also for making this event possible.”

“CC Vietnam conducted a virtuoso consultation with the Vietnamese public and included response comments in the license. The team continues to combine a variety of knowledge and passion for the benefit of the local community. Creative Commons hopes for many promising developments in this dynamic and special region, ”says Diane Peters, general advisor to Creative Commons.
The next phase of the work of CC Vietnam will focus on creating multilateral groups to promote legal file sharing in various areas, such as photography, education and music. Institutions and people in Vietnam are invited to participate in the development of a roadmap for a national project and to connect to the launch process on May 7th.
