Austria's payphones will be recharging for electric cars

The original project proposes to implement the Austrian telecom operator Telekom Austria. They have found useful use for thousands of payphones, which are now absolutely unnecessary to anyone because of the widespread prevalence of mobile phones. And there are 13,500 of them installed in the country. Instead of demolishing the booths, Telekom Austria wants to convert them into charging stations for electric vehicle batteries.

The first prototype of such a cabin was shown on Tuesday in Vienna , installed right next to the headquarters of Telekom Austria. The cabin was equipped with a plug, where you can connect the power cable from the car.

From the usual payphone "Electricity" will be different light indicator on the roof (green cube with the image of an electric plug).

This year, 30 such booths are planned to be installed on Austrian roads (that is, one for every seven electric vehicles in the country, detractors joke, because in Austria there are only 223 electric vehicles plus 3,559 hybrids registered). Payment will be made, of course, by mobile phone.

By the way, Telekom Austria owns the Belarusian telecommunications operator Velcom, so if necessary, it can implement a similar project in the CIS.
