Chronicle of Victory - ITAR-TASS interactive archives

On the anniversary of the victory, the portal “ The Chronicle of Victory ” was opened, on which unique military chronicles of ITAR-TASS are presented interactively.
These are electronic copies of newspapers, photographs published for the first time, and aerial photographs from the National Archives of the USA, audio records of the state archives, operational documents of the USSR, the USA, Great Britain and Germany.
According to the plans, the portal will contain a total of more than 11,000 pages of digitized periodicals, about 600 unique video and audio materials, more than 1,700 photos from ITAR-TASS archives, more than 400 strategic maps and combat action schemes.



The portal uses the interactive features of the Silverlight technology - in particular, access to all graphic materials is made using the Deep Zoom. Lots of maps, photos and documents are loaded dynamically in real time, saving traffic and load time. Video materials use Smooth Streaming technology, which dynamically in real time determines the quality of the image, depending on the connection speed and processor load. Content management is done on the Sharepoint platform.

The opening of the portal was held with the participation of the Minister of Communications and Communications of the Russian Federation Igor Shchegolev, and yesterday a story on the First Channel was shown about the site. By the way, an interesting frame turned out as a screensaver :)
