Comparison of Russians and Ukrainians in Google Zeitgeist
The published Google Zeitgeist statistics for October 2006 show serious differences in the search queries of Russians and Ukrainians.

The first thing that catches the eye is the absence of “essays”, “news” and “work” in the Russian list. Apparently, according to such requests, Russians turn to Yandex, using Google as the second search engine, while Ukrainians primarily turn to Google. The second is that the presence in the Russian list of requests related to information technologies “site creation”, “computer assistance” and “free hosting” may indicate a narrower Russian audience specialized in IT than from Russian in Google. The third difference is most likely related to the level of consumption; Ukrainians do not need “plastic windows”, “winter tires”, “heating” and “garage doors” as the Russians do.
