Campaign against mobile phones launched in Tajikistan

Tajikistan launched a campaign aimed at restricting the use of mobile phones by citizens. It is reported IA " Ferghana.Ru ". In the capital of the republic, banners with the advertisement of cellular communication operators are being dismantled, and on television there are plots broadcasting which state that the use of mobile phones can damage health.
The general tone was set by the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rakhmon, saying that the residents of the country spend too much money to pay for mobile communications. According to the data provided by the head of the republic, the maintenance of a mobile phone costs each inhabitant an average of 600 somoni (about $ 135) per year. The annual income of mobile operators in Tajikistan, according to Rahmon, is about 1.4 billion somoni (about $ 318 million).

Among other things, the president, as reported by the news agency Avesta, instructed “to carry out explanatory work through the media about the dangers of using mobile phones, especially for the health of children and adolescents”.

After Rakhmon’s speech, Dushanbe authorities, as told in the Moscow mayor’s office, imposed restrictions on outdoor advertising for cellular operators. The extent to which advertising will be limited is not specified. The company Tcell confirmed that they had already received a letter from metropolitan officials, stating that banners with advertisements of this operator should be dismantled.

In the meantime, experts state on the air of the state television of Tajikistan, stating, in particular, that a person who too often uses a mobile phone may have a brain tumor.
