Asus EEE PC 1005 PE Netbook Review

Introduction

As promised I am writing a review of the Asus EEE PC 1005 PE netbook. I apologize immediately for the quality of the photos, they were taken on a Nokia N95 mobile phone. So more to the point, the netbook comes in different colors (black, white, white-pink, white-brown, blue), but for some reason I just wanted white, today we will talk about it.

The lid is made in the form of a grid, not brand, rough, which is very good if you carry it in your hands.

On the photo above, the first row of holes is the stereo speakers, it is worth noting that the speakers are very good, maybe even the best I've heard on netbooks - because there is no “iron sound”, they play loudly and well. Further, as usual, slots for RAM, did not open. Below the latch for the battery and the battery itself, the battery does not play due to the fact that it does not fit like in some laptops (netbooks) on the latch, but is inserted along the rails and secured with two locks.

Keyboard.

The very rough touchpad with the multitouch function from the asus, is a very convenient thing, the hand does not get tired and it is easy to find it in the dark. What can multitouch?
2 fingers: on each other - decrease in scale, in different directions - increase in scale. 1 finger is in place, the 2nd one works as in a compass and we twist it - turn it (checked only in the standard Windows Picture Viewer). 2 fingers simultaneously vertical / horizontal - scroll the page.
3 fingers are used to change the page - slide 3 fingers to the right - the next page, slide to the left - the previous page.

The keyboard itself, in my opinion, is well done, a nice indent from the buttons, has a small stroke when pressed. The advantages of this keyboard in large enter and backspace keys.

A standard set of indicators for most models of books: power indicator, battery charging indicator, hard disk indicator, WiFi indicator, CapsLock indicator.

Immediately after the purchase, I was introduced to the stupor by 2 buttons on the netbook. The first button is responsible for turning on the netbook in the Expres Gate mode, the second one in the normal mode. I will not write about the mode of the express gate, about him there is already a lot said before me.

Even for the sake of interest, I made a system performance test in Win7, this is what it shows us:

Lifetime.

How long does your laptop hold? 3-6 hours without charging? And 1005 PE lasts ~ 14 hours! , details:

Example 1
1. Turn on 50% of the brightness of the screen (I have enough of such brightness with my head).
2. Turn off Wifi.
3. We start typing in any office application. Then 14 hours will be absolutely real.

3. We start watching the video (by the way, this netbook, like the others, does not support HD Video, but does an excellent job with DVD5, DVDRip ). In this situation, your will be 10-11 hours with non-stop playback.

Temperature.

In standby mode, like surfing (watching movies, listening to music), the netbook works silently. The average temperature of the device when surfing the Internet is 39-40, when playing hedgewars for half an hour it reaches 50-55 and the cooler starts to accelerate, it makes a lot of noise when it overheats, but the noise passes quickly because there is a cooler with 3300 RPM in connection with which it cools quickly and again goes into the silence of the mod.

OS and software.

As you had time to notice, the pre-installed system on the device is Windows 7 Starter - as you know, this is a very limited version 7, you can't even change the wallpaper on it, but the asus just pleased - they pre-installed their wallpaper changer, for which a special thank you to them !

The software from the asus turned out to be the most standard: ASUS Vibe (download center for games, music, pictures ala iTunes), Asus Update, Asus Live Cam, Cyber ​​Link YouCam, pleased with some kind of book reader with a Japanese (!!!) interface called ebi.Book reader, but did not bother with it and deleted it immediately.
