Intuitive catalog for online store

A couple of years ago, when my employer's online home appliance store once again expanded its range, I was asked to suggest a new directory structure. Traditionally, it is based on a complex of functional, dimensional and territorial generalizations. In this case, something is always "attracted by the ears" (for example, dishes in small household appliances).

My starting point was the postulate: "The customer must find the goods where it seems logical to him." Thus, the same product must be put in all categories that are suitable for it, and not in the “most suitable” category - we get a similarity of the tag system in the blog.

The absolute majority of us can easily find the main things in someone else's apartment because there is an undeniable general logic of their placement: there is always a TV in the hall, forks in the kitchen, and toothbrushes in the bathroom. These things are united by the fact that they are all used in the same place. Another category of things - which simply lie and wait in the wings: nail scissors, camera, video camera, etc., they can be applied anywhere, and it is much more difficult to find them in someone else's apartment. Fortunately, there are not many such products in the online store of household appliances, and more often it is “taken with you”.

Then, a couple of years ago, I proposed a similar directory structure:
')
Headline: "It Is Used"
Answers:
On the kitchen
In the living room
In the bathroom
In the garage
In the hand

Needless to say, the sales department did not approve my proposal. I did not give a presentation, it was not possible.
Recently, thoughts about the intuitive catalog returned. I decided that the implementation in flash would be absolutely wonderful: it is easier to grab the object by the subconscious, because it is not necessary to read. At first we see the house outside, but if we wish we get inside any room. Graphic implementation is not a problem, but it is worth working on it only if the idea itself is worth something.
I made a quick rough image with a superimposed image map. It is impossible to insert into the text on Habré, therefore here . All links still lead to the main Habra ;-)

UPD
I think that it is optimal to leave on the page a familiar text directory with a traditional structure. Still, some goods are easier to find.
