Strategic plan for the year

With this post I want to put together all the information that I have accumulated on the topic of effective planning for a year + how to work with it in a tactical sense. The inspiration was the books of Gleb Archangel and David Allen. And in one and in the second there are materials on long-term planning, but I got a little bit of my own scheme, and as a result, for me it is more working.

Structurally, I would like to consider everything this way:

1. Functional
2. Strategy + tactics
3. Application areas
4. Examples

2. Strategy + tactics

To implement a strategic plan need tactical tools. They are all different, but somehow they all come down to to-do lists. Someone leads them in a notebook or diary, someone in Excel tables or in specialized web services, such as Remember the Milk. I use Things as it has the exact same structure as in the strategic plan: there are zones, projects with tasks, and also focusing on today.

The weekly inspection of tasks together with the strategic plan allows you to always have current status and not drown in the routine, you can see goals, and it’s clear why all these endless things are. Also, Things is arranged in accordance with the concept of GTD (Getting Things Done), a distinctive feature of which is to drop all cases from the head (into the program), which gives peace of mind and a good environment for new ideas.

And by the way, in conjunction with the mobile version, working with Things is as efficient as possible, since things can be thrown out of my head anywhere, because the iPhone is always there.

3. Application areas

Such a plan can be used both for personal use and for corporate at the level of top management of the company. Moreover, with a corporate implementation, the plan can be public and promotion will further motivate all people in the company, since they will understand what is happening and where the company is moving. Well, in any case, it is a good tool for achieving goals that allows you to focus on the main thing.

Yes, and of course scalability, the plan can be applied both for one year and for the whole life (or 5-10 years for a company).

And most interestingly, everything can be easily done in Excel or Numbers.

4. Examples

The examples presented below are rather arbitrary, but they are quite enough to illustrate the flexibility of this planning technique.
