Belarusian swamps went online

A resource dedicated to the Belarusian marshes began to work on the Internet.

The website www.peatlands.by was created within the framework of a joint project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus on the renaturalization and sustainable management of peatlands.

On the site you can find general information in Russian and English on the state of Belarusian wetlands, detailed information on the seventeen restored project areas, documentation developed within the project, as well as photos of wetlands before and after restoration.

“This site gives everyone the opportunity to take a fresh look at what nature has been creating for millions of years, to understand and see the real picture of peatlands before and after their restoration,” said Alexander Kozulin, the project’s scientific coordinator, candidate of biological sciences.
