“Makhost” and .RU domains: details + instructions

In addition to hosting services "Makhost" offers domain name registration (already temporarily not offering). He does this as a registrar reseller, OOO Regtime (Webnames.ru) from a bearded year 2004. As of April 2010, about 8,500 .RU domains supported by Regtime, LLC are registered as a reseller. Considering far from the dumping price of registration and renewal of .RU (180 rubles), it can be assumed that the core of the “Makhost” domains are real working projects.

The essence of the problem: succumbing to panic, customers run from Makhost throwing backups of databases and websites into suitcases. However, when trying to throw a domain name registered with the hosting into the same suitcase, they end up in a level 80 quest. After transferring the project to a new hosting service, you need access to the control panel to fully manage the domain registered at Makhost. For this, the domain must be transferred from the REGTIME-REG-RIPN registrar partner to the REGTIME-REG-RIPN registrar itself.

Again on the phone, again endless waiting and now in Regtime we get the following instruction:

The procedure for obtaining the ability to manage domains registered through Regtime LLC partners (webnames.ru) will require:

1. We register on the website webnames.ru from the section "Registration" . When registering, you create a username and password for further management of the domain.
2. We fill in the data of the general questionnaire in the section “My Account” / “My data” / “General contact details” , indicating in the questionnaire the data of the domain owner.
3. We provide a scanned copy of the domain owner’s documents. For individuals - passport pages with full name, passport issuance data and a mark of residence (2, 3 and 5 pages). For organizations - a copy of the state registration certificate and a copy of the certificate of registration of the legal entity in the Register. Documents are uploaded via the website: section “My Account” / “My Data” / “General Contact Details” / “Confirm Data” opposite the “Main Profile”.
4. We inform the domain name and your login on webnames.ru through the section “Email us right now” on the website webnames.ru. We attribute the comment: “Please transfer the domain habrahabr.ru to my own account % username% ”
5. We are waiting for up to two working days and get the opportunity to directly manage your domain.

If you decide to transfer the domain from McHost to another registrar at once (in the Habr header the advertisement of one of them now rotates), you still need to follow the procedure described above - this is the beginning of another, not less confusing quest.

Oh sad. Domain renewal on Webnames.RU will cost 390 rubles per year. It is more expensive than 90 rubles. on the “black market”, but this is fully justified if you have a real web-project, and not a portfolio of a young cybersquatter.
