Mail.Ru opened API for external sites

Independent developers have long been able to create applications for our social network, My World@Mail.Ru , as well as put special buttons on their pages that give users the opportunity to share links to interesting materials from these sites within My World.

Today we have taken another step in this direction and have opened another type of API for third-party resources, which we call Mail.Ru API. Sites. The desire to use it has already been expressed (and now all the necessary technical procedures are being carried out), for example, projects such as Afisha.ru and Pravda.ru.

What it is? First of all, a potential source of a large number of new users.

After all, any third-party site can publish messages with active hyperlinks both in the “What's New” user’s event feed and through personal notifications and a widget in its profile (by the way, widgets are a unique function of My World), an example of which is shown below. Naturally, all this is done only with the consent of the person.

In addition, Mail.Ru API.Sites allows you to use a single authorization mechanism for the Mail.Ru portal. As a result, the process of authorization and registration of site users is radically simplified - the API independently obtains all the necessary information from a person’s profile in My World (by itself, with his knowledge).

Finally, last but not least, the API gives access to the user's social graph (in particular, information about his friends list), his content (for example, photo albums) and personal data. Thanks to this, the possibilities of sites are expanded as suggested by users of personalized social services.

Detailed documentation, including detailed how-to on integration with Mail.Ru API. Sites can be found here .

The creators of the API follow the comments to the topic and will be happy to answer any questions.
