MacBook Pro 15 "Unibody Core i5 inside

Having received the long-awaited new MacBook, the guys from ifixit.com turned it on right away!

Apple uses the model number A1286 for the new MacBook Pro. Well, it is necessary to find a new way to distinguish the new from the previous ones.

Under the hood is nothing surprising, everything is very similar to previous MacBook Pro. As usual, on the battery is a sticker with a warning - do not remove the battery.

For some reason, Apple stopped using bolts with a 5-sided asterisk and replaced them with 3-sided. Apple can try as much as you want, we have all the screwdrivers here.
Battery capacity is now 77.5 W / h. What is not so much more than the previous 73W / h. In any case, this is clearly not enough to explain the extra 1-2 hours of work (according to Apple).


One of the main changes in the new model was the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth card. Most of all, it reminds MacBook Unibody.


To disable the AirPort / Bluetooth module, you must first disable the antenna.

Unscrew one bolt that holds the entire module.

Two more bolts to detach the AirPort Express card module.


The AirPort Express card itself is different from previous MacBook Pros. In fact, it is from the plastic version of the MacBook Unibody.

Turning off the antenna, you can immediately pull out the optical drive.


The new MacBook Pro has all the same Seagate drives as before.


The speakers and subwoofer are fixed on 4 bolts.


Apple slightly changed the design of the audio system. Now the speakers and the subwoofer are in separate acoustic spaces connected by plugs.



Since the AirPort / Bluetooth card is now closed in a metal box, Apple has added an antenna that is located in the cut-out frame for laser discs. Indeed, a smart decision!


After removing two coolers and disconnecting the heap of connectors, the entire motherboard can be removed.



The module of external ports and the second speaker has not changed.
