And just a few days ago, I wrote to pixilang (we were not familiar with it before, from using my zoclock) with ideas on what can be “improved”. It was not even about improving, but about a completely new approach ( demo from pixilang ).
I really liked the idea.

Functionality. I have long had an idea to make a small desktop-gadget that would listen quietly, some portico, and when some data comes in, it shows this data on the screen. Then in cron, you can shove unpretentious scripts, monitoring servers, checking mail, or just reminding you that it's time for lunch, otherwise they will eat everything in the cafeteria. I think to make such a universal megabud / napaminalnik / monitor attendant out of this thing.
