Gizmodo has published a graphical representation from Intac, showing the approximate number of dedicated servers owned by IT industry leaders. When we say numbers, it’s hard to imagine how much server farms have grown. Intel, for example, is estimated to have about 100,000 servers in its arsenal, while Facebook, AT & T and Time Warner Cable fall in the range of 20,000 to 30,000. Without seeing these server farms with our own eyes, such dry statistics are perceived by us as nothing more than an interesting fact.
It's no secret that Google is a giant. But do people understand how much? Companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and eBay all have over 50,000 servers, although the exact figures are not publicly disclosed. Google, by comparison, is estimated at 1,000,000 dedicated servers, which exceeds the share of 2% of all servers in the world. The graphical representation below will help you to truly understand how incredible Google really is (especially when compared to other industry giants).
