Deutsche Telekom invests rival Skype

Earlier it was reported that Intel will fully support the "Skype killer" - the company Jajah . Today, Jajah announced that they had another investor - Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile).

Initially, investment news was reported by Intel, while Deutsche Telekom kept this information secret until today. Investing Deutsche Telekom in Jajah is the first of its kind, before this, no telecommunications company has invested in VoIP startups. Jajah plans to use this money to further promote the market and further develop the capabilities of its business.

In addition to financial support, the transaction provides additional opportunities for the company. This deal will enable Jajah to grow in the Asian and Latin American markets, and reduce call prices, assuming that Deutsche Telekom is the primary provider of telecommunications services, primarily in Germany. An early deal with Intel provided Jajah with access to Intel vendors, OEM suppliers and developers, as well as a huge number of Intel VoIP patents.

General Director Trevor Healy (Trevor Healy) says that for Deutsche Telekom Jajah is an interesting investment, because their service does not use existing telephone connections to connect their subscribers. Also in March, Jajah announced that their base already has 2 million users, and Healy expects it to increase to 5 million by the end of the year. Currently, 40% of calls processed Jajah pass through the US, while the remaining 60% - international.
