Many offices have uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Presidio, a Texas-based town that is constantly suffering from power outages, decided to build its own UPS.



The photograph shows the world's largest sodium-sulfur battery called the big-old battery, which serves as a backup power source for Presidio. It can store 4 megawatts for eight hours.
