In May, Google holds a traditional conference for
Google I / O developers, which will be attended by about 4,000 people from around the world. Last year, the company surprised many when it distributed to each visitor of the conference on the Android smartphone. This year they decided to do a little differently: a free Verizon Droid or Nexus One will be sent to each participant
a month before the conference.
To order the device you need to leave a request until April 18. Parcel delivery will take from two to four weeks.
Participation in the conference costs $ 400 for ordinary visitors or $ 100 for students and teachers. All tickets are already sold out.
According to Google representatives (from the Google I / O Team letter to TechCrunch), for the most productive work at the conference, each participant must have Android (it will load the conference program into it in real time, a special utility has already been developed). Just in case, the company sends a smartphone in advance, so that even those who still do not have such a possibility could get acquainted with it in advance. In addition, it facilitates logistics: it is easier to send parcels than to distribute 4,000 units directly at a conference, taking away precious time from participants.

For the convenience of visitors, specially for the conference in the premises of the exhibition center Moscone West (San Francisco) will supply GSM repeaters and additional access points, as well as battery charging stations.
