Greetings to you, dear Habrovchane!

Recently, the hype around the cloud technologies, SaaS and other aaS is becoming more and more active. Exploring this topic, I stumbled recently on the appeal of the “great and mighty” R. Stallman. In his
“Who does that server really serve?” Message, the SPO ideologue calls to boycott and avoid using SaaS services, but suggests developing an alternative (see the comment
habrahabr.ru/blogs/saas/89737/#comment_2697486 ). He compares new technologies with spyware. Of course, Richard did not disregard Microsoft and Apple :). Recalled cases with the removal of electronic versions of books that were purchased by Amazon Kindle users. A lot more to write. In general, thoroughly and not the best way "walked" on SaaS'u.
If you look back at the past and look at the history of SaaS, then you will notice that technology is not evolving so quickly. The first mentions of the term “software as a service” appeared back in 2001. It's 2010 now. If in the West, the dynamics of the development of SaaS, and indeed cloud technologies, is quite palpable, then in Russia it has somehow failed. So far, only talk and, maybe, small steps towards these technologies. Everyone speaks and, perhaps, understands that this is cool and more profitable financially, but it has not yet come to mass use. There is no confidence in SaaS yet. And it is not clear when it will appear ... And if we also take into account Russian realities, for example, the recent incident in the Agave DC, then the future of SaaS in Russia, in general, seems very, very vague.
Let's go back to the sayings of the "great and mighty." Rather, consider what the community thinks about it. After the publication of the appeal of Stallman, discussions were launched on LOR and OpennNet, in which not all STR followers support his opinion. Moreover, in the comments part there is a mass of negativity on the topic.

White Man horses, or why I do not store data in the clouds .
So what am I all about? Yes, I just want to know your opinion dear Habrovchane.
What is interesting is this: are you personally or in the person of your companies ready to “give” your confidential data to an external provider?
If not ready, it would be interesting to know the reason.
