Persistent English grammar structures

In the second post I wrote about the main (as I think) differences between English and Russian. Today I would like to focus on paragraph 9. stable grammatical constructions inherent only in the English language.
Sometimes you read, you read - everything is clear, and then there is an incomprehensible construction and you do not know how to translate it.
Maybe someone already understands these turns of the English language, but at least earlier for this information I would give as they say "My kingdom for a horse"
