USB stick made of precious wood

Inspired by recent articles about the handwritten production of cases for flash drives, I decided to take a chance and try the patience of the people of habrovchan. The desire to make the body appeared a long time ago, but all hands did not reach. And now, armed with rosewood, mahogany, sandpaper, a file and a ruler, he assembled the case for 4 evenings.

As a blank was used a small bar of rosewood:


Due to the small thickness of the workpiece, it was decided to make a coffin body with a lid:

In the process, I took a smaller flash drive:

The flash drive is held by cold welding deep in the case. At the ends of the case and the cover are mahogany inserts:


Gluing the insert with the main part of the cover:


After the lid has been glued, it is necessary to bring it to a common base with the flash drive body:

After this is a tedious phase of sanding sandpaper. Four sheets with a roughness of 400 to 1200 were used. Each sheet was processed two or three times. In between, the hull was wetted with a damp cloth in order to raise the smoothed fibers of the tree:

After painting the case was placed under the glass in order to avoid dust sticking:


Due to the fact that the first layer of lacquer is absorbed into the wood, the body remains almost dull:


Sand the sandpaper, cover with the second layer, polish with a soft cloth, cover with the third layer, polish and get the final result:
