Sergey Belousov, executive director of Parallels, in a recent interview with the German magazine t3n, literally mixed Open Source with some of the best materials in the world.

Answering a question about Linux and Open Source, Sergei said that "Open Source is a big pile of crap," and laughed, after which he added: "I hate Open Source." Expanding his position, the head of Parallels referred to childhood, which passed during communism and left not the most pleasant sensations from community service, which are inherently similar to the development of Open Source products by enthusiasts who make changes in accordance with their personal preferences.
In response to this criticism, the journalist asked Belousov why, then, Parallels supports the Open Source project OpenVZ. To this, he replied that the OpenVZ developments serve as the basis for the Parallels Virtuozzo Containers product, and at the same time reminded that, despite his personal attitude, the company makes noticeable changes to the Linux kernel code distributed under the GPL license. Moreover, Parallels is among the top ten contributors to the Linux kernel.
A few days later:
In his address to the Open Source-community, Sergey said that “in a recent interview I tried to jokingly point out the current tendency of the general perception of Open Source and play devil’s advocate in relation to Open Source and the community.” Belousov asked the community not to take seriously his words and apologized to everyone they touched.
In addition, he again reminded: “The reality is that we have long been one of the largest contributors to Open Source-projects and support them. In fact, we are the ninth largest contributor to the Linux kernel, and thanks to our cloud service provider and hosting partners, we support one of the largest Open Source ecosystems in the industry. ”
He also noted that the Parallels strategy relies heavily on the Open Source platform and asked the community to "judge him and the company by the actions that speak for themselves."
