It is interesting to note that in Internet Explorer there is a special mechanism (documented
in MSDN , for example) by which add-ons and programs installed in the system can put their own identifiers in this line.
However, such an extended line, judging by the blog recording, will now be accessible from IE9 only to Java scripts (via the navigator.userAgent property), and not to remote web servers.
A very controversial decision, let it be declared aimed at simplifying
browser sniffing ( browser sniffing ).
