People who work for free, give the best result

If you take a salary from a person, will he work better? It is difficult to answer here, but the fact remains that people do the highest quality work for free. Jimmy Guterman with O'Reilly Radar once again draws attention to this interesting phenomenon.

For example, Jimmy Guterman recently completed work on the compilation of The Sandinista! Project , part of the profits from the sale of which will go to charity. So, it turned out that many talented people are ready to take part in this project, completely free of charge. All 36 musical groups and performers who participated in the recording of the album did not demand a penny for their work. A record company has provided a studio for free. Found a designer who drew a free cover.

Much more problems had to be experienced when communicating with a “professional” public who demanded money for their work, Jimmy says. In the expensive publishing house, it was necessary to redo the probes six times, because the fonts “went” during printing. The hired sound engineer recorded one of the songs in the wrong frequency band, so we had to re-remaster the whole disc.

It turned out that the work of free "volunteers" was much better quality than the work of paid professionals. Are salaries and fees the evil that replaces the true incentives to do a good job? In other words, can a person qualitatively do the work that he would not agree to do for free?
