Bill Gates and Toshiba will work on a nuclear reactor

The founder of Microsoft and the Japanese company Toshiba will unite to work on the creation of a new-generation atomic reactor capable of operating for one hundred years without recharging. Current reactors can operate for only about five years.

Nikkei Economics Daily, without naming the source, reports that the project is called Traveling-Wave Reactor (TWR); Its essence is that in a new type of reactor, spent uranium can be used as a fuel.
By the way, Toshiba already has a project of a compact reactor operating 30 years. It is called Super-Safe, Small and Simple (4S). That it will take over the base of the new reactor. Also in the development and production will participate TerraPower, which is owned by Gates.
