Not so long ago on Habrahabr there was an article about the Use of 3D printing in medicine .
The technology is widely used in many areas, including design, architecture and even Construction!

Italian engineer, designer and architect Enrico Dini, who previously was engaged in designing robots, came up with the revolutionary idea of a machine that prints ... Buildings.

His invention is a “prototype for automatic production” 3D printer, and combines the functionality of computer architecture programs with the simplicity and speed of printing a printer.

The device was named D – Shape .
At the heart of the design is a frame supported by four independent supports. Nozzles are located in the lower part of the frame - they spray sand and binder solution. In one cycle, the “print head” passes over the surface 4 times. Then a stop is made, and the resulting layer, about 10 mm thick, dries out.

According to the architect, “the process is 4 times faster than conventional monolithic construction, and the costs are reduced by a third to half compared with the use of Portland cement. The construction process has less waste and is less harmful to the environment. ”
One of the main advantages of the invention is the simple and quick reconstruction of complex architectural forms created in 3D CAD software, of bionic structure.

Despite the fact that the prototype at the moment can produce only relatively small objects, mainly it is used to create small architectural forms, Dini wants to seriously develop the project: “What I really want to do is use the machine to complete Sagrada Familia, ” said Dini.

The construction of this magnificent building designed by the famous Antonio Gaudi began in 1882 and it continues to this day.
