Good day,% username%! I got a new toy - FullHD Panasonic HDC-SD60 video camera and I hasten to share my impressions and a small overview of the functionality.
Appearance and some numbers
The camera is rather small and light and sits well in the hand.
The set of buttons is minimal:
top - button toggle between Intelligent Auto Mode (iA) and Manual Mode (manual), Image Stabilization System (OIS) Mode Switch, Zoom Control Lever and Photo Snapshot Button
back - switching modes, playback, video, photo (IMHO is not a very convenient switch, but it is not often necessary to switch)
under the LCD screen - recording, scaling, menus, lighting control and a delete button
under the screen panel there are 3 interface connectors: HDMI, USB and AV / composite output, as well as an on / off button and a memory card slot
All the rest is managed through a very responsive touch screen (it will be difficult for people with thumbs to manage, but for them there is an unusual / unusual shape stylus) Now about the characteristics:

Technology
Beautifully about the technologies of this camera is written on the official website , from myself I will add that they do not lie. And almost copy-paste with pictures:
Intelligent Zoom and Optical Image Stabilizer
In fact, the intelligent zoom is an optical zoom (25x) + a bit of digital + adding sharpness in the end the picture is the same as if there was a 35x optical zoom The optical stabilizer is updated (what exactly is new - I don’t know), as before it works remarkably: we are driving on gravel road, and it’s as if we take the picture off from a tripod ')
Wide angle lens
This is exactly what was so lacking in the previous cell - you no longer need to press into the edge of the room to remove what is happening from this room (still wider ...)
Familiar faces
The most favorite feature of the camera. The bottom line is this: “show” the camera to 6 people (from 1 to 3 photos per person) and shoot. In this case, the camera will automatically focus on familiar faces, and not on left passers-by. And also, if you turn on the special mode, the camera will take photos (5 megapixels), if one of these 6 people smiles. The camera stubbornly does not want to memorize animals, although it sometimes recognizes the dog’s face as a face. And if you forget what name they are - you can aim the camera at the person and she will tell you how;)
AF tracking
The essence is simple, poking on the screen at someone else and the camera will focus on this object, while if a person is selected, it will adjust the brightness / contrast so that the face can be seen as accurately as possible.
Automatic selection of shooting mode / scene
The essence is simple - the camera itself will choose the most appropriate shooting mode (auto, portrait, panorama, evening) depending on the factors: lighting, presence of faces, focusing range
Manual shooting mode
The mode is for those who do not trust AI or for conditions when this AI starts to go crazy. Here the choice is given:
auto / manual focus
aperture / shutter speed / white balance settings
lighting compensation
alignment of skin color
night mode (increased shutter speed)
macro shooting
Recording time
Together with the camera I purchased a 32 GB SDHC memory card, it allows you to record about 5 hours of video in the highest available quality (1980x1080 17 Mbit / s). This is all great, but the battery lasts a maximum of 2 hours of shooting, and it’s not yet possible to buy additional and / or increased capacity (they are not on sale in Russia). So, if you call to shoot an event, you will have to take an extension cord =)
Finally, about the shooting itself.
As already said, the camera shoots at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 (1080i), after the old miniDV camera, the picture looks just perfect: there are twigs on the trees, wool on the dog , and scuffs on the dance floor . I will not tell anything about shooting in the afternoon, as it is clear that the picture is beautiful, clear and juicy, hand trembling doesn’t affect the picture in any way - says Panasonic's long-loved image stabilization OIS So, shooting at night or in low light conditions. There are several options: use the built-in illuminator (super bright LED), use night mode, or do not use anything. Share pointless, watch the video:
Night mode
With built-in illuminator and without it (filmed at night in a closed room, the light was only slightly from street lights)
I did not use anything (approximately 8 pm in Moscow)
Well, just look at our new dog.
A bit about the photo
As I already wrote earlier, the camera itself can take photographs while shooting with a resolution of up to 5 megapixels (interpolation, of course, actually 3 megapixels) while in the frame of familiar and / or smiling faces. The quality of the photos is rather mediocre (compared to a normal camera). There is a flash, which means you can pofotkat at night.
General impressions and price
Prior to that, I used a Panasonic NV-GS320 3-matrix miniDV camera (and even earlier mustek dv3000), strained the process of transferring video from a cassette to a computer. Now everything has become easier, and the video is better (1080i vs. 576i). And most importantly - the price: 17490 rubles + a memory card ~ 4000 rubles (at the time of this writing, the price of the camera was in the range of 17,337 to 21,720 rubles)
PS: Any questions? Ask - I will update the review as necessary.
