While attempts to compile a database of human DNA samples are harshly suppressed by human rights defenders, the police have to be resourceful. A recent case in London was the first in the history of criminology, when the killer's guilt was proved with the help of his dog's DNA.
South London gang members were caught after analyzing a speck of blood that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier left at the crime scene. He also participated in the murder and accidentally cut himself during the attack on the victim. Police were able to prove that the owner of the dog was also at the crime scene.
An even more interesting story took place five years ago in Germany. In the forest, they found the corpse of a woman buried under an oak tree. The husband’s fault could never be proved until a piece of wood was found in the trunk of his car. The analysis showed that this is exactly the oak under which the corpse was found. The plants also have DNA. ')
