To celebrate the launch of Skype Access, Skype gives free internet access to more than 100,000 WiFi hotspots around the world this weekend (March 20-21, 2010).
From 03:00 on Saturday March 20 to 02:59 March 21 (Moscow time) Skype Access will be completely free around the world. All you need is one of the participating Skype Access hotspots and the latest version of Skype (Win4.2, Mac2.8).
In addition, especially for travelers who are unlucky with the strike of the crews of British Airways, in the UK this offer will be extended until 23:59 (GMT) Monday, March 22. Anyone stuck in a British airport will be able to get online from his computer to work, or adjust his plans, or better yet, call home and talk to his family using a video call via Skype.

Skype Access allows you to pay for WiFi access using funds on your Skype account. You just need to connect to the network included in the Skype Access program and Skype will offer to pay for access with Skype Credit. The per minute tariff (0.14 euro per minute) is used - this is not always a super profitable option, but in a situation when you need to go quickly, connect to the network (check email, check something on the network, call via Skype) - often the best way. Operators of public WiFi networks charge about 10 euros per hour from such "random" users (and this hour can often not be split into parts), or offer a subscription for 5 hours (when you need 15 minutes), plus the payment procedure itself often takes almost more time than you need to spend online.
Here you can see a complete list of WiFi networks that are compatible with Skype Access.
One of the key partners is the international network
Boingo . In Russia, it includes, among others, Beeline hotspots, but practice shows that not all. So reviews of Habr's readers who managed to connect to BeelineWiFi using Skype Access (or succeed this weekend) are welcome.
But first of all - good luck to travelers =)
