Penny and cent feature

Today I noticed one interesting feature. And if correctly and beautifully formulated, the question can be asked to experts in the program. What? Where? When?
So.
Take the Ukrainian penny in hand and flip it horizontally. Here's what we get:

Those. The image will be located correctly.
And now we will take in hands 1 American kopek. And turn it horizontally. Here's what we get:

Those. The image has become flipped upside down.
If you can’t verify, then just trust me that it is. I have 1 cent in 2005 at home. And I personally experimented myself (although the photo is not mine - there is no camera at hand).
And that's what turns out interesting. We, when we want to flip a coin, turn it horizontally. And the Americans, apparently - vertically.
The question is why?

UPD. By the way, I just looked at the eurocents - they are similar to our pennies in this regard.

UPD2. In the comments posted English penny. It is noteworthy that this coin is turned over just like ours.
