
Last Thursday, the Italian government announced plans to build the most powerful power plant in Europe, among those using solar energy to generate electricity. The construction will
deal with the American company
SunEdison . The area on which the solar panels will be located will be about 120 football fields. The total power plant will occupy about 850,000 square meters and will have a peak power of 72 MW.

The total investment will be from 200 to 250 million euros (from 273 to 342 million dollars), as reported by the company, and in the middle of this year the station should already start working, and by the end of 2010 - reach the planned capacity.
During its first year of operation, the station will cover the electricity needs of 17,000 households, as well as prevent the release of 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
