Google bets on biotech company of wife Sergey Brin

Google has invested in a biotech company, co-founded by Anna Wojcicki, who married Sergey Brin, earlier this month. The second founder of the company is Linda Avey, a veteran of biotechnology with twenty years of experience. Google announced that it invested $ 3.9 million in a company called 23andMe. Other investors that took part are Genentech, MDV-Mohr Davidow Ventures and New Enterprise Associates. Sergey Brin himself lent the company 2.6 million US dollars earlier. This debt was repaid after Google made the investment.

23andMe is planning to give people the opportunity to take a DNA test in order to better understand their genetic information. The company plans to provide services at low prices, and communicate the information to users quickly. Rumor has it that the company is still very, very far from launch.
