This review focuses on the
IBM ThinkPad 380ED follower . They are separated by 2 years. Let's see how it has been improved during this time.

')
Back in 1999, the IBM 390E came out, continuing the ThinkPad series. It was presented in different variations, the differences were different processors (Celeron or Pentium II), screen sizes (12.1 ", 13.3" or 14.1 "), sets of RAM (32 or 64 MB) and hard drives (3.2, 4.3 or 6.4 GB) .
I got this device with an Intel Mobile Pentium II 300 MHz processor, a 13.3 "screen (seemingly), 64 megabytes of RAM, a hard drive with a capacity of 3.2 gigabytes, and a dead battery.
More detailed configuration:Processor: Intel Mobile Pentium II 300 MHz, 2x 16KB L1-Cache, 512KB L2-Cache;
Video card: Neomagic MagicMedia256AV 2.5MB. 1024x768
RAM: 64MB PC-66 SDRAM
Winchester: 3.2 GB
Sound: ES1946 Audio controller
Additional: CD-ROM Speed 24 X / Floppy Drive / Modem 56 Kbps / IrDA 1.1 / USB 1.0

Perhaps one of the most important details of which ThinkPads are remembered is TrackStick / TrackPoint (the red thing serves as a manipulator):

I still could not move the cursor normally with it, most likely due to defects that appeared over time.
General view of the patient:

There is a small breakdown: one mount is pulled out between the screen and the case itself.

So, enough to examine it from all sides, it's time to turn it on.

The screen came on, a ThinkPad inscription appeared and a pre-entry to enter the BIOS.
Initially, the Windows 98 operating system was on this device. Now I decided to try Windows XP on it, and we’ve seen what happened:

Here it is in all its glory. A little slow, but tolerable.

RAM would be more ...

Now you can play. Put first Dune 2000 - the game is very much alive, you can while away the long winter evenings.

And for "shoot" put Quake II. Without brakes, it is played on a resolution of 640x480. Acceptable.

If there is absolutely nothing to do, then you can watch the movie, having previously turned off all unnecessary processes (including the explorer) or put the “real time” priority on the player.

This device can still come in handy as an office typewriter for printing documents, reading books, surfing the Internet, chatting in icq, those who are especially hungry can pick up a php server and rather comfortably test websites. :)
