DirectX 10 for Windows XP

Microsoft representatives have repeatedly stated that DirectX 10 is designed only for Windows Vista and is incompatible with the other - previously released - versions of Windows. But, as it turned out, not everyone agrees with Uncle Bill’s statements. The network has already appeared preview version of a set of libraries to ensure compatibility of DirectX 10 with Windows XP. These libraries let you run games that require DirectX 10 on platforms other than Microsoft Windows Vista. In addition, they increase hardware compatibility, even in Windows Vista itself, by compiling geometry shaders directly into machine codes where this cannot be done by hardware.

Description:
Direct3D 10 features five key changes:
1. improved programming capabilities (Shader Model 4.0 and geometric shaders);
2. strict hardware specifications;
3. improved performance (reduced number of processed commands per frame);
4. unified instruction sets (HLSL 10);
5. stream I / O (geometry shader can write to memory).
