GDC Heroes 2010: Uncharted 2, Carmack and Newell

At the Game Developers Conference (GDC 2010) , held in San Francisco, the “hit parade” of the best games of the past year was announced yesterday.



Among the winners of GDC 2010 is the console PS3-exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , which won four awards, for, respectively, script, sound, technology and visual effects, and also became, according to the jury, the best game of 2009. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves bypassed such five-star projects as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II, Demon's Souls and Dragon Age: Origins.

Of the other winners, Torchlight, which won the most significant debut award, Batman: Arkham Asylum for game design, and Flower, which won the award of the best game distributed in digital form, are worth highlighting.



Not spared on GDC 2010 attention and persons. The founder of id Software and the father of DOOM and Quake John Carmack were honored for their contribution to the development of the industry. And Gabe Newell, who created Valve, his associates, earned the title of an industry pioneer.
