The evolution of Yandex

Today I found the old (March 2002) issue of the journal My Computer . It contained the news that Yandex launched its new version. I decided to see what this search engine looked like during its entire existence. It turned out that art.lebedev made them design from the very first version. Below (under the cut) I give screenshots from the website of the diz.studio with small notes.







Pictures (except 8.0) lead to saved copies of sites on Tyoma servers. All notes refer to the main page.

1.0: Surprisingly, the proprietary I appeared in the first version. First, Yandex clicked Yandex - Web'om.







2.0: The first attempts to create a slogan.







3.0: Font on the logo received familiar forms. A yellow search bar has appeared.







4.0: Appeared directory sites. The logo has taken its place.







5.0: Weather, News, Yandex Services, Lebedev's logo in the basement.







6.0: Double Column Design. Notice, "The man who found everything" - Anton Nosik.







7.0: Flash banner, "Yellow Arrow" search.







8.0: “Bookmarks” to search in different sections. Ability to customize the contents of the title page.







8.5: So he looks now. The “Mail” bar at the top, the new catalog and the list of Yandex services.



The last redesign was made more than 2 years ago, so, I think, we will soon have a new Yandex.
