Windows Vista and Flash 8

In January of this year, Windows Vista came out - a new operating system from Microsoft. General impressions are certainly pleasant. The new Aero interface, more comfortable work with files, faster system operation in general (somewhat faster than in XP), fewer glitches, etc. etc. But, this article is not a review of the new features of Windows Vista.

Yes, everything is fine. But Vista brought some troubles with Flash 8.

1) A terrible glitch. And all because of the “awesome” Aero interface. Let's say you created a movie. They dragged him onto the stage. Now click on the movie to go inside. You will wait 5-10 seconds! Super, is not it? I do not know the exact cause of what is happening. Most likely, Vista thinks this is a common dialog box. And the dialog boxes in Vista appear with the effect of a smooth appearance from nowhere. Also this slowdown occurs if you return to the main stage. It shatters a lot. By the way, what's interesting. If you enter the movie through the library, then there is no such unpleasant effect. Decision. Disable the Aero interface in visual effects. Item - Disable Desktop Composition. I really hope that either Vista or Adobe will release an update on this topic (PS There will not be any updates. Install Flash CS3 and enjoy life). Well, or this option can not be turned off, if you have less gig RAM ...

2) Now for the glitches with ActionScript. If your Flash player is below 9.0.28, then you will notice a lot of errors.
Express Install - will not work. Yes, the user will see the window - “Do you really want to install the Flash player?”. But by clicking yes - nothing shit happens. Since in Vista, the security model has been somewhat modified. How to avoid it. No way! If Express Install is a required component in your application, then determine the version of the operating system and if it is Vista, then simply display the link to the latest Flash player to the user.
Shared Object - due to the same modified security model - will not work without the latest Flash player. I suspect that * .mxp files will not work either. I can not say exactly, I have not checked it yet.
Local Connection also does not work (I wonder if it works with FMS and Red 5).
File Reference - does not work. Use File Reference only under player 9,0,28. Those. do a version check of the flash player and so on ...
')
That's all. Once again. Flash CS 3 is fully compatible with Windows Vista. Do not put on Vista Flash below version 9.
