Android based robot

It has long been no news that smartphones with Android OS can be used as a control device. For example, using the App GMote, you get the ability to control the playback of music and video on your computer. However, engineers Tim Heath and Ryan Hickman decided to go much further and not limit themselves to the concept of remote control. They created an autonomous robot controlled by an Android-based smartphone.

Tracked robot equipped with the HTC G1 , which performs the function of the "brain", can move in these directions, using the built-in phone compass. It should be borne in mind that the project is at the development stage, and only $ 30 was spent on components!

“Unlike most developers,” says Hickman, “we don’t want to use the phone simply as a remote control. It is better to let him be the brain to control operations. ”
