23 short films in two days: HackDay3 was held in St. Petersburg on February 20-21

The first two events of the series were programmer, this time we decided to step aside from the program code and try to make a movie. The experiment was a success. 140 people gathered from Moscow, Voronezh and St. Petersburg.

The goal of HackDay3, which we usually call KinoHackDay, was to shoot a video or short film over the weekend. There were no requirements for shooting equipment, genre and style of work.
The work began on Saturday morning and ended on Sunday evening with the presentation of films made by the participants.

Of the declared 28 completed 23 work. They turned out different in level and genre. The first place was taken by the film “Khan Shoots the First” in the Tarantino style, the second place was shared by the comedy detective “Trifle” and “Liu?” , In which the author asked St. Petersburg residents about love, filming it with an amateur camera. The third place was taken by the short film “The investigation of Chelyshev” (must see!) About the world after the apocalypse. Winners were determined by audience voting.

Presented on the demofesta movies can be viewed on the website HackDay3 . In addition to the first three places, the documentary “How I Live Well” about unemployed youth, “Knight and Dye” based on the game “Mafia” is also recommended for viewing (coordinator, subjectively).

It turned out a very interesting thing - at the exit from the filmmakers get more finished work than projects from programmers. Compare: 26 of 76 on HackDay2 and 23 of 28 on KinoHackDay.
The next step is to work with festivals and show the best films in small venues, while it is not clear where and how. Search in progress.

Our minus - could not attract financial sponsors. All potential sponsors reacted coolly to the composition of the audience.

The next HackDay will be a programmer, a small one, designed for business-oriented ideas. In the near future we also plan to conduct a small experimental HackDay for music. We invite co-organizers and consultants.
