Quake Live Beta celebrates birthday

Quake Live is a free online multiplayer first-person shooter designed as a browser plug-in.

Exactly one year ago, on February 24th, 2009, Quake Live opened for beta testing for everyone. On this wonderful day, let's look back on the first year of the launch of this great game.

The number of people registering for Quake Live Beta has exceeded all expectations. More than a quarter of a million players created accounts immediately after launching the game into an open beta test! Since then, players have spent more than 8.9 million hours in more than 60 million entertaining matches, earning an impressive 8 million awards and 810 million frags.

The title of “Most Played” ( Most Time Played ) went to the player Pudrick , who spent almost 56 days in the game from the minute of launch. Two Dark Angels, Yakumo and Trajan , competed for the title of leader in the fragments of “Most Frags” . The title went to Yakumo , who committed more than 258,000 murders.

The id software company understands that not everyone has time to reach such heights in the open spaces of this defeat from the first person, so every player who completed an online match during two holiday weeks from February 23 to March 9 will receive a special holiday award.

Developing Quake Live, the developers have made many changes and additions to the game over the past year. In particular, the introduced function 'Duel Detective', which allows players to find an opponent in accordance with their skills. The developers also expanded the platform to include game support for Mac OS X and Linux users.

Also, the game added new modes - Pro Team Deathmatch and instagib CTF .
