It has been
rumored for a long time about the fate of the
“First Aid” program within which schools in Russia received licenses for proprietary software, as well as its distributions and free software distributions.
The question of the future of the future program was decided before the beginning of this month.
Now the information is confirmed finally. The program of supplying licenses for proprietary software for schools is closed, the available licenses will work until January 2011 with slight variations of this period. Accordingly, the customer support service of proprietary software is closed.
As a result, schools completely switch to the use of
free software (
for which sometimes they even want some money ), or they pay for purchases of licenses from their own budget, the size of which will not be modified in any way for these purposes.

The source of information is a conversation with the support service of the “First Aid” program.
I will try to get additional information from the Department and IAC.
I would like to add on my own that schools need nowhere to take cadres from nowhere, nobody will be able to arrange rates for organizing internal support services (and they will be very necessary). Programs on computer science will be seriously redrawn. Colleagues, that is, the director, IT deputies and teachers of computer science, perceive the situation as catastrophic.
