The Russian Producers Guild is developing a set of measures to combat the spread of unlicensed content on the Internet, Vice President of the Guild Alexander Kotelevsky told RIA Novosti when commenting on the closure of the domain torrents.ru.
The investigating authorities closed the domain name torrents.ru as part of the investigation of the criminal case against a Muscovite who distributed a counterfeit Autodesk AutoCAD program through this domain, UPC reported.
“I want to believe that the closure of torrents.ru is only the first step of the upcoming large-scale campaign to combat Internet pirates. This resource was the largest source for downloading counterfeit products. Now the main thing is that five similar sites should not appear instead, ”said Kotelevsky.

At the same time, in his opinion, in order for the struggle to be effective, a systematic approach to the problem is needed.
“We in the Producers Guild are now developing a set of measures to combat the distribution of unlicensed content on the web. On the other hand, it is important to allow users to have free access to a legal product. The project of the National portal of Russian cinema is currently in the final stages of development, where you can watch or download movies for a nominal fee, ”he explained.
Russian cultural figures, in particular producers, have repeatedly complained that such torrents.ru domains violate copyrights.
