SAP Company History

Something is nothing on Habré about the good old SAP AG. And in vain! Here is a little excursion into the past in order to acquaint the reader with the world famous manufacturer of ERP-systems.

When five managers working at IBM decided in 1972 to create their own company and find a new way to run their business more efficiently, it was difficult to predict that their software would eventually be a global standard for world business. Now, SAP is the world leader among suppliers of business management software solutions and ranks third among the world's leading software companies in terms of their market capitalization (as of January 25, 2006).
Hasso Plattner, Dietmar Hopp, Hans-Werner Hector, Klaus Chira, and Klaus Wellenreiter worked as system consultants at IBM when they noticed that their customers were developing the same or similar computer programs. They understood that it was necessary to supply standard software that would allow integrating business processes and managing information flows in real time. In addition, they were able to foresee that one day the focal point during data processing would be the computer screen. Both predictions became a reality when they left IBM and created Systems Analysis and Program Development (System Analysis and Program Development).
SAP was founded in Mannheim, Germany. These were times when pocket calculators were part of the “newest technology,” and computers had a 500K memory capacity. The same year, Apple Computer was founded; another innovation - the first email management program was created. Not much time passed, and SAP was ready to launch the RF-System, which was later called R / 1, an automatic accounting and transaction processing program that differed in that it was standard software and performed data processing in real life. of time.
