NOMOBILE.RU at MWC-2010. Last day

The last day at the exhibition was devoted to the inspection of everything that had not previously been possible to see. Moving to Chinatown at the MWC, Nikolay Turubar noticed an interesting gadget from Motorola - Golden-i. This strange-looking thing is a real computer. With the help of a clever attachment, it is put on the head and a small display appears in front of your eyes. Management is completely vocal.

Then there was a booth with phones Emporia - a company that seriously attended to the creation of grandmothers and grandfathers. By the way, they make them very, very cool. It is a pity that pipes are not yet delivered to Russia. They showed two new items - glamorous grandmother's pipe Elegance and brutal grandfather solid Solid. Their chip is not in the presence of Wi-Fi and bluetooth, but in large buttons, loud speakers and compatibility with hearing aids. Both models are equipped with 1.8-inch bright OLED-displays.

Nikolai Turubar shares his impressions of what he saw: “Grandma phones cannot get to Russia, although I see them regularly at exhibitions. But this time, having talked at the booth with the President of Emporia, I realized that negotiations with someone from Russian distributors or operators were already in full swing. Uncle took me for one of them and talked for a long time about how the company is going to work in Russia. After 15 minutes of lively conversation, he finally looked at my badge and realized that I was a journalist. Upset, poor fellow :(

The next booth was the pavilion of the Korean operator SK Telecom, where the infrastructure for driving from a mobile phone was demonstrated. The kit includes sensors, on-board computer, software and, in fact, a phone. With the handset, you can control most of the functions of the car, although, of course, you cannot drive from a mobile phone.

The final point of the program was an interview with Acer's vice president, in which he dotted i about what to call netbooks. Here is a small fragment of it:

“Differences between laptops and netbooks are erased, new classes appear, and the industry does not always respond to it with new names in time. Personally, it's easiest for me to build on the screen diagonal. All that has a diagonal to 11 inches are netbooks. A smartbook is a laptop with a diagonal of 11-12 inches, with a convenient keyboard, good performance and still on Windows, they have a little more memory and more powerful processors. I would call our new Aspire One 532g smartbook, the world's first laptop on the Nvidia Ion 2 platform. The Intel Atom N450 processor with a clock frequency of 1.66 GHz and the discrete graphics accelerator GeForce allow you to display video in 1080p resolution and run games. And laptops are computers with a diagonal of 12 inches, there are already classic processors, full-fledged platforms, a full set of communication tools, and in 15-inch models there is already a separate digital keypad, this is a replacement for home computers. ”

The full version of the interview will appear on the Nomobile.ru website today.

After that, you had to hurry on the plane. Taking this opportunity, I want to say thanks to everyone who read and commented on our reports from the Congress! :)
