Notifications for messages from Google Wave are broadcast via Gmail

What I really lack in Google Wave * is the notification of a new message from a colleague or friend in the “wave” of discussions that would go straight to Gmail.

Santa's Little Helpers

It would seem that even if messages from friends from Buzz (“Live Ribbons”) are duplicated in inbox, why do you have to load or keep an open bookmark with Wave’s awkward and cumbersome interface all the time to notice a new message - after all, the same, say, Gmail, I have all the time open in the browser tab.

In addition to the wonderful add-on for Firefox and the add-on for Chrome , notifying of new messages in the "waves", I also saw a separate Waver app for Windows, Linux and Mac Os X that runs on Adobe Air technology. There is also a separate application for iPhones and Mac OS X Waveboard , but since Gmail became an important tool in my daily affairs, I have long since chosen the method of “Santa's Little Helpers” - various jabber bots that work hard. , closely follow the new posts, tweets, databases (and all the other entries in all kinds of new-fashioned types of blogging) of my friends and immediately report on this inconspicuously to me via Gmail chat - aka gtalk, i.e. google xmpp protocol
')
If you also want to start a bot that will notify you of new messages in Google Wave, do as I have already done:

From now on, it is worthwhile for someone to leave a new message in this wave or edit it - we will receive a message in the chat about it:

I know that there are many who don’t use gtalk and don’t keep a page with Gmail open all the time, so you can add wave-xmpp@appspot.com to any other xmppc client and receive notifications from it:

A bot has several commands to view the waves to which we are subscribed, to subscribe or unsubscribe from the wave, and you can view them by sending the bot “help”.

In conclusion, I can say that I myself learned about the existence of a bot, thanks to
this article .

Possible problems:
In a small annotation on the developers page , the following is written: “If there are no buttons, because they have been deleted, type x: menu into an empty blip.
You can also type x: sub or x: unsubscribe to unsubscribe, respectively, ”which roughly means the following:“ If there are no buttons in the wave, because they were deleted, type x: menu in an empty message.
You can also type x: sub or x: unsub in a blank message to subscribe or unsubscribe, respectively. "
