Yahoo has hired a banker
Blake Jorgensen, a veteran of investment banking business, has been appointed the chief financial officer of Yahoo. According to experts, such a personnel decision suggests that Yahoo is more thinking about buying other companies than about merging with Microsoft.
The fate of the former chief financial officer, Susan L. Decker, who has held this position for seven years, is still not clear. She was considered the most likely successor to the position of president of the company instead of Terry Semel. The departure of the latter is quite likely, because Terry is becoming increasingly difficult to withstand the pressure from the board of directors and shareholders of the company due to poor financial results and the obvious strategic miscalculations of Yahoo .
Since the end of last year, Mrs. Decker concurrently watched Yahoo’s most important department — the online advertising department — and waited until the headhunters found the right finance director for her shift. This long-awaited event will happen on June 4, 2007.
