Simple and efficient way to synchronize and backup
I think that most of us have more than two work computers (home, laptop, netbook, work computer, etc.). And there is a natural task - how to synchronize your working folders? This is a well-known task and it has many solutions. I want to talk about one fairly simple, but effective way that allows you to solve a number of related tasks.
Synchronization by copying files to a USB flash drive or a portable HDD is not a very good way: portable devices can be lost sooner or later (and not always working folders will be encrypted), my humble experience shows that when using portable devices mercilessly, these devices can order long to program. And besides, “at sea” in an Internet cafe you may not be in the swimming trunks of a USB device and you will not want / allow any computer to plug it in.
More correct option to synchronize over the Internet. Here we will talk about it.

In the end, I began to use a simple and free program WinSCP. I have used it before to access my sites. But it turns out she has a function "Synchronization", which is quite clever and does everything correctly. The only thing that is needed for this is hosting, with no restrictions on traffic and volume, both reliable and inexpensive. You might think that for a small amount of money (I measure out 10 dollars a month maximum) there is no such hosting. But do not think for advertising - there are such hosting! True, these hosting sites are better to look for in the USA. I use (not only for synchronization, but for all my sites) HostGator. For $ 10, I have a full unlimited in terms of volume and number of domains. Of course, nothing unlimited does not happen, but I have not yet reached the limit.
And so we make a folder on the hosting. Close it with a password. With WinSCP synchronize folders. As a result, we have copies of our files at the hostel, where they make a professional backup, by the way. We can see our files via the web (after entering the password). Moreover, WinSCP connects over SSH.

There is one drawback, for some reason, downloading to the servers of my hoster through WinSCP is not done quickly. True, it can be bypassed in another way - initially upload your files via FTP or connect folders on the hosting as a web disk. I have such a scheme - in the evening I start synchronization, which, taking into account directory traversal and file uploading, runs for 15-20 minutes (good time to read Habr, eat yogurt ...).
What is especially nice - everything is controlled, everything is visible.
