The first Ukrainian game for Android - Fox Hunter

We are interested in developing for Android and have long wanted to write something for this platform, test the technology, touch the market, go through the submit in the Android Market. Now we are mainly engaged in the development of the iPhone, and in Android we see the prospect and new features, therefore, until there were no real problems, we decided to create our own game in the laboratory mode. An idea was born in a brief discussion, the designer drew the design in his spare time and wrote the music themselves. And so, almost in half a year of slow work, Fox Hunter appeared :).

Initially, the Fox Hunt is a sport-based radio direction finding competition that has been popular since World War II. In 1985, based on this competition, the electronic game of the same name was invented for the calculator Electronic, many versions of which exist for computers and mobile phones, and now for Android smartphones.

The essence of the game

The foxes are randomly arranged on the playing field and the player’s task is to find them in the least number of moves. When you open the cell, you either find a fox, or see a number indicating the total number of foxes horizontally, vertically, and in two diagonals. The game is somewhat reminiscent of Minesweeper, but in Minesweeper the signals act only on neighboring cells, and in Fox Hunter - along the entire length of the column, line or diagonal.

Android Market

The submission procedure in the Android Market runs quickly and smoothly - after 10 minutes after downloading the application, it is available for download.

Having received the first reviews about the game (special thanks for the myshyak tips), we slightly improved usability, added a few new features, and after a week launched Fox Hunter v2.0 with an updated interface.

For less than a month of the game’s stay in the market, almost 4000 users downloaded it.

Two peaks on the graph show the first and second version submission dates - as it turned out, unlike the App Store in the Android Market, the application falls into the category “latest” with each update and, accordingly, each new version receives a good push for a successful start.

We ourselves love logical puzzles and think that Fox Hunter will appeal to all those who are not averse to trying out their erudition and brains :).
